Social media is here to stay. One of my favourite social media platforms is Pinterest. In the time it has been around it has established itself as a heavy hitter with over millions of users and growing every day. Of course, mainly women use the site but this fast growing social media phenomenon is not only fun but educational as well. It’s like a community cork board filled with just about anything you are searching information about.
It’s super easy to use and you can share all kinds of things with friends and family.
The site encourages the use of photos and info graphics as the main criteria so using pinterest is very visual. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words..right? You post images to your account using the “Pin It” button and the cool thing is, you can also repin information from other people.
It’s an excellent tool for shopping, businesses, recipes and just about anything your heart desires. Most of the other social media outlets are text driven with some images scattered throughout but pinterest predominately features images while text is an afterthought. The images grab your attention immediately which is the whole foundation of this tool.
Picture a retail store online and you can imagine the possibilities, especially with 80% of the users being female. Talk about getting the word around about your business!!!!
One word “REPIN!”
In social media, we have watched the enormous growth of mobile devices. Take a look around the next time you are downtown walking around or on the bus. Everyone is checking their phones. WHY? It’s so easy to kill time by browsing the web and what better way to catch the attention of the millions of cell phone users than images.

You can create all kinds of different boards and show off your personality; be creative and watch the results.
It can help bring increased awareness to your new business which in the end adds increased sales and isn’t that why you opened your business in the first place.
