Family Day 2015 – Vancouver Property Managers

Family Day 2015 is a recognized statutory holiday in some parts of Canada. For instance, in the provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan, the holiday is honoured and celebrated on the third Monday of February but in the provinces of Manitoba, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, Family Day is called Louis Riel Day, Nova Scotia Heritage Day, and in Prince Edward Island the day is called Islander Day. In British Columbia, we began celebrating Family Day on the second Monday of February and this year it lands on Monday, February 9th. It is the perfect time to plan many special activities with your family. Downtown Vancouver itself, offers lots of fun filled options for the entire clan, so check out the following link to see what particular event suits your individual family.

It is a great time to include the entire family in everyday activities you might not partake in. So, gather up your cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles and head for the mountains or see a movie together that everyone will enjoy with a big bucket of popcorn. If your family is more of a museum loving group, head over to the Vancouver Art Gallery and take in the newest exhibit while having lunch in the gallery restaurant afterwords. You will have so much to talk about and catch up on, the conversations should be quite lively.

Even a simple stroll down Robson Street or along the waterfront landscape of the Lonsdale Quay will be a fun adventure but be prepared for rain, because after all, it is February in Vancouver. If you love the snow and all the fabulous outdoor recreations that go along with the snow, check out all the ski resorts around B.C. because they generally offer huge discounts for the Family Day weekend.
If you’re thinking of spending the day with your family downtown Vancouver, why not consider an outdoor excursion to our famous picturesque Stanley Park or a long leisurely walk along the seawall. You can mosey on over to the Robson Square Ice Rink after your walk. To celebrate Family Day, there will be free skating available on the rink and even the skate rentals are free.

If you prefer inside fun, take the kids to the Richmond Children’s Art Festival for a day filled with arts and crafts. How about lunch at the the many waterfront restaurants in the fantastic area of Coal Harbour or a bicycle ride along the beautiful walkways overlooking the ocean?

Kitsilano apartments to rent are becoming a hot commodity. This popular community also has many things to look forward to as our new annual Family Day holiday gives everyone a chance to stop and smell the roses and remember what’s really important in our always busy lives. This special day allows all of us to experience such a great opportunity to build new and lasting memories with our kids. Can you think of a better way to spend a day off?

On Cypress Mountain they have an entire weekend dedicated to family activities, so keep an eye on their website (see below) for all the updates.

Grouse Mountain is a popular North Vancouver year-round mountain playground. The Grouse Mountain Skyride, an aerial tram that ferries visitors up the mountain 365 days a year, provides spectacular views of Vancouver’s North Shore and the city of Vancouver.

Find year round activities on the Mountain as it is a great place to take the family and enjoy our mild winter weather. Of course, you have to be adventurous to try the three G famous “Grueling Grouse Grind” but be warned, it is not for the unfit. You must be fully prepared for the almost vertical 2.9k hike up the mountain, gaining 2800 feet in elevation. If you suspect the grind may be too much for you, spend the day skiing or snowboarding. You are on the West Coast of Canada after all. I love the chalet fireplace with a very hot toddy and a really good book.
Don’t forget about a much closer option for a day trip. Our infamous Mt. Seymour is waiting for you and your entire brood of snow babies. Whether you make it there Monday to Friday or the weekend you will not want to miss the Bear Bowl, tobogganing and the Goldie Magic Carpet. The little kid’s lessons run continuously on Wednesday & Friday. As long as there is snow, the Mountain is alive with snow festivities.

As Vancouver Property Managers, Orca Realty loves this holiday to escape the craziness in the office for a full day filled with fun..fun…fun and the most important thing FAMILY! For me, I can’t wait to wake up to a scrumptious pancake breakfast to start off the festivities and who knows where the day will lead us. All I know is, I get to spend my family day with the coolest cats on the planet and it will be a blast.
