Nice houses usually have nice yards. My personal yard contains a 15 foot high bush that often encroaches our front yard walkway and needs trimming at least once every month or two. When it’s time to do so, I put my faith and trust in the “Orange Beast.” When I originally bought my house the previous owners were generous enough to leave my orange friend in the backyard shed. She’s chipped all to hell, there’s no safety latches and all she does is chop through branches like they were butter…they don’t make them like they used to.
Below is some good pruning tips to keep your bushes looking tip top:
– chart the current bushes that you do have
– cut all dead or diseased branches
– clip the tips to promote new branch growth
– make your cuts just below the branch collar
– prune out about a third of the branches that grow from collars
– leave the new branches alone
