In 10 days, summer will officially start and if you rent a condo in Vancouver you must be so ready for it. My absolute favourite thing to do in the summer is to hit a patio with spectacular water views. It’s a great way to catch up with friends and family and enjoy the fantastic sunshine we are blessed with on the West Coast. I have several spots that are perfect for patio time and they are in no particular order because I love them all.
The rooftop patio at Black and Blue is one the hottest spots in the city. It has an amazing open kitchen and cool bar strictly for the rooftop. It’s sleek, modern and full of “beautiful people. ” Black and Blueberry Martini anyone?” The Lobster Tower is amazing and the staff perfection; stop by and try it for yourself!
Reflections on West Georgia is where you go to be seen. Just check out the endless line of expensive cars out front and you will see how busy this unique patio can get. You will be surrounded by successful, young crowds of fashion trend setters who love to party and have a good time. Get comfy and cozy on the stunning teak couches by the fire and be illuminated by the exotic lanterns while sipping chilled cocktails and eating one of their yummy seafood appy’s.
If you like to relax and be a bit more casual, check out Mahony & Sons large patio overlooking the ocean at the Convention Centre. The Celtic artwork is fantastic and painted by actual Irish artists. It’s a traditional Irish setting with double sided fireplaces that face out onto the large patios for a romantic evening in a warm breeze. If you feel like comfort food, try the spicy cayenne wings or the prawn & chorizo tapas with a pitcher of ice cold Irish Guinness; make yourself comfortable while sitting with your favourite person staring at the ocean.
The Sandbar patio on Granville Island has some of the best Vancouver views you will ever see. The food is awesome and during the summer they have music every night. The atmosphere is casual chic and this is without doubt, one of my fave patios to lounge on. Everyone seems to have a good time at the Sandbar. You can even take the Granville Island ferry across from downtown Vancouver to avoid the crazy weekend traffic and you won’t have to worry about parking either.
The Keg patio in Yaletown by far is my top patio to hang in. The only negative to this patio, is you cannot make reservations, so the wait can be a tad long on a Friday or Saturday night but believe me, you won’t regret it! The food is insane, the wait staff all look like models and the environment is all about fun! This is the place to be downtown, whether you are doing business or just getting together with a group of friends make this patio a priority to spend time at.
