Other winter activities West and North Vancouver residents can enjoy are snowshoeing or tobogganing. Squamish or Pemberton are also a short drive away and great scenic road trip!

The North Shore is also home to many fantastic art galleries, studios and theatres where you can enjoy live music or a show. Visit the Lonsdale Quay where there is a fabulous waterfront market to enjoy, many unique shops, restaurants and a play area for the kids. There you will also often find live entertainment or a farmers market.

From the Quay you can take the sea bus over to Downtown Vancouver for a day of shopping or sightseeing or to enjoy a lovely brunch in one of the many popular restaurants. North Vancouver also features Edgemont Village and Lynn Valley Village which are popular places to take a stroll, shop and have lunch with a friend!

There are many community centers that feature fitness, art, music and literary courses. These centers also feature many activities and events that are great for all ages. The West Vancouver Community Centre is beautiful and centrally located…a great place to have a swim! Many North Vancouver community centers also feature swimming and ice skating.

If you feel like having a stay-cation in your own neighborhood there are many guided tours available for many of the local attractions. Take a walk on the Capilano Suspension Bridge, visit Maplewood Farm with the family or take a day trip to Grouse Mountain where you can ride the tram or hike the popular Grouse Grind. Renting a home on the North Shore is always a great idea!

If you own a boat or want to enjoy a scenic ferry trip you are a short trip away from Bowen Island. This charming island is home to many art studios and galleries and has great restaurants featuring gorgeous ocean views. Bowen Island also has many great overnight accommodations if you feel like making a weekend of it.

Another option is to go a bit further and you can take a ferry to Vancouver Island which is an extremely popular tourist destination any time of year. Vancouver Island is a great place to go camping and hiking and is known for its many great hotels and sightseeing options.

 

There are many parks to enjoy that feature fabulous hiking trails with beautiful gardens and incredible views. Lighthouse Park is located in West Vancouver and is a popular day trip destination for local residents. It features an uncut rain-forest and is located right along the ocean. Whitecliff Park is also located in West Vancouver and is a great place to take the family for a picnic or scenic hike and it also features a playground for the kids. Hike the Grouse Grind or take a excursion in beautiful Lynn Valley or Cypress Provincial Park.
